The anticipated "Captain Marvel" film is set to debut in 2019, with Brie Larson portraying the titular character. In the said movie, Captain Marvel's origin story will be altered to avoid having a resemblance to that of Green Lantern.

"Captain Marvel" will be the debut film of the titular character, also known as Carol Danvers, and she will be portrayed by "Kong: Skull Island" actress Brie Larson. The actress' casting as Carol Danvers was announced at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con Marvel panel, Cinema Blend reports.

No director has been tapped to direct the Marvel film yet, but it will be written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman.

The synopsis was posted on Screen Rant, and it reads: "Carol Danvers, an officer in the U.S. Military, gains superpowers when affected by an accident involving Kree alien technology. She becomes a member of The Avengers known as Ms. Marvel and later takes on the mantle of Captain Marvel, the cosmic superhero."

During an interview in a podcast episode of "Any Time With Vin Forte," Perlman shared that they will change the origin story of Captain Marvel to steer away from the resemblance it has with Green Lantern.

"Here's the thing, if you were just going to do a straight adaptation of the comics, her origin story is very similar to Green Lantern. And obviously, that's not what we want to do," Perlman said.

The screenwriter continued to explain that they will have to reinvent a lot in Captain Marvel's back story to bring out her own personality in the film. Perlman added that they will take note of what has already happened in other Marvel films to make sure that they will come up with an original storyline for Carol Danvers' debut.

Perlman wants to bring justice to the incredible character that Captain Marvel is, especially with her recent story arc written by Kelly Sue DeConnick.

"Captain Marvel" is slated to premiere on March 8, 2019.
