'Castle' season 8 finale spoilers: Everything about new promo points to Beckett's death in 'Crossfire'

Will Beckett (Stana Katic) meet her demise in the "Castle" season 8 finale "Crossfire"? | Facebook/Castle

The promo for the highly-anticipated "Castle" season 8 finale titled "Crossfire" is out and everything about it bodes an imminent death—Kate Beckett's (Stana Katic) death to be specific.

Katic is no longer reprising her beloved role in season 9, should the crime drama be renewed by ABC. After the announcement of her exit, how she will be written off has been shrouded in pure secrecy.

If what fans see in the promo is what they get, then Beckett will most likely give up the ghost in "Castle" season 8 finale as she and Castle (Nathan Fillon) go after LokSat, who, sadly, is one step ahead of them.

Beckett realized during a stakeout that they fell victim of the baddie's trap and that the guys they were hoping to catch cornered them instead.

This should be what the "unforeseen twist" mentioned in the synopsis for "Castle" season 8 finale was about. Shots are fired and Beckett does not hold back in taking on the criminals.

After the fallout, Beckett appears to have been captured, as a man was already informing Castle, who was also captured, that "Kate Beckett is going to be dead by the end of the night and there is nothing you can do about it."

Another foreshadowing of Beckett's passing was the line from the same man: "Everything ends in tragedy, even an epic love story like yours." Castle looks devastated as he was told these words.

At one point in the promo, he was seen being hugged by his family, who also looked like they just lost someone. By the end of the "Castle" season 8 finale teaser, Beckett and Castle said "I love you" to each other like it's their last.

All this leads up to the possibility that after eight years of action, Beckett will meet her demise to give Katic an out. Many fans hope her exit will be done perfectly as she is a cherished character in the "Castle" community.

Up to now, the cast and crew of "Castle" are waiting for a season 9 renewal. Showrunners Terrence Winter and Alexi Hawley have prepared two versions of the "Castle" season 8 finale to prepare for either outcome.

Hawley told TV Line that if a new season is confirmed later this week, fans will be watching the "dynamic" version of the finale that will launch the show to season 9.

"Castle" season 8 finale "Crossfire" will air Monday, May 16 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
