Chicago Bulls trade rumors 2016: Taj Gibson may move to Philly for young big man
While everyone is waiting for the new NBA season still a few months away, rumors regarding player movement continue to make rounds in the basketball world.
Two teams who have seen their names revolving around trade talks are at it again as rumors link the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers potentially making a trade.
According to Inquisitr, the two teams are in talks on a trade that would send Taj Gibson to the Sixers, while the Bulls will land Jahlil Okafor.
This move is potentially being made in order for the Bulls to have a core that can contend with the better teams in the Eastern Conference.
At the moment, the Bulls look great on paper as they have Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo as new faces of the franchise as they joined Jimmy Butler to make a threatening three-guard line-up.
However, it leaves them somewhat thin in the big man position following the departure of Joakim Noah, but getting Okafor will definitely help them be stronger and possibly push them to elite status.
Meanwhile, it is no secret that the Sixers are still developing and have a log jam in big men. They have Okafor, Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel as towering centers who are young and have the potential to be great.
However, playing in limited minutes sees their growth stunted and they are unable to be as great as they are poised to be.
If the trade happens, as reported by Ecumenical News, both teams will benefit greatly; with the Bulls getting a slightly better deal between the two.
Okafor is a young star and one who has proven he can operate on both ends of the floor.
Gibson is a veteran but may not have the same power and presence as he once had that made him important to the Bulls.
It remains to be seen if this deal will fall through as the two have been in trading blocks for a few months now and nothing still seems to materialize.
