'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago P.D.' crossover update: Did Severide cause trouble for Lindsay and Halstead?

The explosive crossover episode for FOX's "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." placed Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) in a hot seat.

In the episode titled "Some Make It, Some Don't," Severide was suspected of causing a vehicular accident that killed a child. This landed him in jail, where the Intelligence Units from "Chicago P.D." worked together to investigate if the Squad 3 lieutenant should be blamed for the bloody car accident.

The crossover episode showed the complicated dynamics between Severide and Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush), since the firefighter and the detective used to have a relationship in the past. This also caused conflicts within the two Chicago organization, as well as Lindsay's current relationship with Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer).

Toward the second half of the crossover episode, Lindsay showed that she believes Severide has nothing to do with the accident. This did not sit well with Halstead, who prejudged his girlfriend's ex a little too quickly and felt that Lindsay still has feelings for her former lover.

But in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producers Matt Olmstead and Derek Haas clarified that Severide's case will not tear the relationship of Lindsay and Halstead apart in the upcoming episodes of "Chicago P.D." season 4.

"No, we're really happy with the chemistry and the storyline of Halstead and Lindsay," Olmstead stated. "We played obviously the Severide-Lindsay storyline early on in the show. Who knows? We could have another ripple, but right now there are no plans to revisit Lindsay-Severide."

Haas, on the other hand, claimed that it would be hard to push the Severide-Lindsay arc forward because both actors are very busy with their own respective shows.

Meanwhile, the executive producers also told The Hollywood Reporter that they might consider a major all-"Chicago" crossover now that the latest franchise "Chicago Justice" was given a release date. Yet they still have to carefully plan the crossover because of its logistics.
