Conor McGregor UFC news 2016: Conor McGregor says he's still the UFC featherweight champion

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) might have stripped the featherweight belt from Conor McGregor, but the Irish mixed martial artist said that they never talked to him about relinquishing the belt that he won from Jose Aldo last year.

"All I know is they're trying to type onto keyboard and say, 'We're taking this belt, we're taking that belt, we're doing this, we're doing that,' You ain't doing nothing without contacting me first," he told Yahoo Sports.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fans were waiting for McGregor to say something when the UFC brass took the belt from him and gave it to Aldo, and now he's letting his followers know how he truly feels.

"I'm still the two-weight world champion. Make no mistake about that. They can say what they want, they can try and get phony belts and hand them out to people I've already destroyed. I mean, the current champion is a guy I KO'd in 13 seconds. The current interim champion is a guy I destroyed as well. Officially, I don't care what nobody says. I am the two-weight world champion and that is that."

Meanwhile, a number of fighters want to get their hands on McGregor and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley wants to be the first in line. And he's willing to do it in Dublin, Ireland. McGregor has always wanted to fight at Croke Park, a football stadium that has a capacity of over 80,000. Just imagine the noise and reaction McGregor will get if he fights in his home turf.

However, the UFC will have a hard time booking a fight there because of the Irish weather. Don't forget, the stadium doesn't have a roof. There's also the time zone issue as well. They will have to start the fight very late if they want to air it during prime time hours in the United States.

While Woodley is campaigning for a fight with The Notorious, Nate Diaz launches another verbal assault on McGregor. The Stockton native said he can't believe that McGregor is on the top of the pound-for-pound ladder while he's not even in the top ten. McGregor might have beaten Diaz in their last fight, but he could never shut him up.
