Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) might face more trouble in the upcoming episode. Meanwhile, the BAU will be crossing paths with someone who is yet to be determined as their friend or foe.

On the upcoming 14th episode of "Criminal Minds" season 12, titled "Collision Course," Spencer will be getting unfortunate news that might make his condition worse than being accused of murder.

The synopsis of the upcoming episode reads: "The BAU investigates the cause of several fatal car crashes involving drivers and pedestrians. Also, Reid gets bad news."

In episode 13, titled "Spencer," Reid was accused of murder in Mexico. The worse part about it is that he doesn't remember a thing, as seen from the episode promo. BuddyTV reports that Rossi (Joe Mantegna) will try to get Reid out by reasoning that he's just been framed, but local police will not be allowing it.

It seems that the charges against Reid will remain until episode 14, where bad news will arrive, making his situation worse.

Executive producer Erica Messer shared in an interview with TVLine that episode 13 is an intense course changer for Reid. However, this curve in Reid's storyline doesn't mean that he'll be out of the series anytime soon.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed by Messer that the BAU will be meeting a former FBI agent in episode 15 titled "Alpha Male."

The FBI agent is Calvin Shaw — portrayed by Harold Perinneau — who was sent to jail for killing one of his informants. However, Shaw's role in "Criminal Minds" has not been determined yet, and it is uncertain if he is someone who the team can work with or completely work against.

Messer shared, "Harold is awesome, as a person and as an actor, and what he brings to this world and this back 9 is such an interesting perspective and a depth, for not only him but for Reid."

"Criminal Minds" season 12 airs every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
