'Crimson Peak' Movie Release Date: Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam in Upcoming Horror Film
Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam face off as potential rivals for the love of one woman in the upcoming Guillermo del Toro Gothic horror film "Crimson Peak," whose trailer was released recently.
The two stars, whose characters vie for the affection of actress Mia Wasikowska in the movie, were seen nodding to each other while attending a recent funeral, the Daily Mail reported on Saturday.
Del Toro's supernatural horror film, set in 19th century England, starts with Wasikowska in a white gown and with her hair all loose as she stood in a snow-covered abandoned mine holding a knife to guard against an unseen entity.
She narrates in the background: "Ghosts are real, this much I know."
The scene cuts to another set in a gothic mansion, where Hiddleston takes Wasikowska to dance as Hunnam looks on, obviously green-eyed. Hiddleston gained fame after playing the part of Loki in Marvel's 2012 blockbuster "The Avengers."
"I can imagine the two of you in here as children," said Wasikowska character's, to which Jessica Chastain, who plays Hiddleston's sister, replied: "We were not allowed in here as children. We were confined to the nursery, in the attic.'
Chastain's character was also shown peeking through a keyhole to watch her brother and Wasikowsa in bed, with Hiddleston already half-naked.
The 90-second trailer also reveals a dark, smoking apparition that crawls up through the floorboard. In another scene, it was shown lying in a bath tub.
"Has anyone died in this house? Specific deaths, violent deaths?" Wasikowska can be heard asking.
"I'm here to take you away," Hunnam said, but the trailer closes with a voice, saying: "There's nowhere else to go. This is your home now."
Crimson Peak is directed by Del Toro who brought to the big screen "Pan's Labyrinth," "The Devil's Backbone," and "Cronos."
The movie is described by The Irish Times as "a tribute to such 'grande dam' ghost stories as The Innocents and The Haunting."
The film is set to open in theaters on Oct. 16.
