"Dancing with the Stars" season 23 will feature a bunch of familiar faces as well as some exciting new ones.

Deadline has confirmed that pros Julianne Hough and her brother Derek, along with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, are returning for the next season of the ABC reality dance competition. Both Julianne and Derek last appeared on the show in 2015. Derek will be back as a pro while Julianne returns as a judge. Chmerkovskiy was last seen on the reality contest in 2014 when he and Olympic medalist Meryl Davis took home the mirror ball trophy.

Chmerkovskiy announced his return to "Dancing with the Stars" during an appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America" last week. The morning show has been the venue for many of the show's casting announcements over the years.

Apart from the return of three of its beloved pro dancers, the 23rd season of "Dancing with the Stars" will be made all the more exciting by the participation of Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, who has just returned from a successful — and highly controversial — stint at the Rio Olympics.

The gold medalist is currently the focus of a huge international fiasco and was recently charged by Brazilian authorities for falsely reporting a crime. According to news reports, Lochte could soon be summoned back to Rio to face the charges, and, if convicted, the swimmer could face up to six months in prison.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Tonight reports that Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez will also be competing in "Dancing with the Stars" season 23. The 16-year-old Olympian is also back from Rio where she won a silver medal on the balance beam and a gold in the team event.

Apart from Lochte and Hernandez, the new celebrity competitors also include crooner Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, "Wizards of Waverly Place" actor Jake T. Austin, "Little Women" star Terra Jole, "General Hospital" actress Emma Samms, and "Brady Bunch" actress Maureen McCormick. "7th Heaven" alum Beverley Mitchell is reportedly in the talks to join the competition as well.

The returning pros from season 22 include Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Sasha Farber, Artem Chigvintsev, and Lindsay Arnold.

The full cast for "Dancing with the Stars" season 23 will be revealed on Tuesday, Aug. 30, on "Good Morning America."

Season 23 will debut on Monday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
