'Dark Souls 3' DLC news, release date: final DLC to bring fans to 'City of the Dead'?
Details about the second and final downloadable content (DLC) pack for "Dark Souls 3" have been discovered sitting on the game files by a fan.
A YouTube user by the name Sanadsk has found after datamining the game that the next "Dark Souls 3" DLC will be called "The City of the Dead."
This is after he finds a reference that reads Miyako no Moujia, a Japanese translation of the abovementioned name of the expansion pack.
This leads many to believe, including the tipster, that the upcoming "Dark Souls 3" reportedly called "The City of the Dead" will be set in no other than Londor, land of the Hollows.
Sanadsk also found some weapons that are inaccessible to "Dark Souls 3" at the moment. What's more is that they look like ones that will fit into the world of Londor, which suggests that these weapons will come via the "The City of the Dead" DLC.
No other information has been revealed about the purported DLC. However, the fact that there are already files included in "Dark Souls 3" of the expansion suggests that From Software is preparing to add the new content.
When that will happen remains to be seen, but it looks like it might not be a long wait. The first DLC, "Ashes of Ariandel," was released October last year.
FromSoftware has said before that they are not releasing new DLCs for "Dark Souls 3" after the second one. In fact, they are leaving the franchise altogether. This does not mean it won't be revisited though.
In an interview with Polygon, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki said that "it's time to move away from the 'Dark Souls' franchise."
"There could be someone else in my company who wants to work on new installments. But we believe that the series will end after the two DLC," he went on to say.
