'Dead Rising 4' release date and news: New trailer has Frank West celebrating an undead Christmas
Halloween may be over, but zombie games are trending all year round. A new trailer has been released for "Dead Rising 4," and it shows Frank West returning to wreak havoc on the undead in the town of Willamette.
The trailer focuses on the freedom of the players to mix and match multiple elements in the game like weapons and costumes. The costumes seem to get special bonuses of their own; when Frank wears a Triceratops head, it gives him the ability to breathe fire.
The clip also has him wearing an Akuma costume from the "Street Fighter" franchise, so fans can expect that the suit gives Frank the ability to cast "hadoukens" at zombies. It's also interesting to note that "Street Fighter" and "Dead Rising" are under the Capcom brand, so other Capcom characters could be referenced in the game. The pumpkin head towards the end of the clip even resembled a servbot from "Megaman."
Frank is also be getting access to an exo-suit that amplifies his abilities and strength. The suit comes with mounted guns, but it can also allow Frank to pick up heavier items like traffic meters and use it to bash zombies in the head.
Aside from costumes, different weapons are also showcased in the trailer which allows Frank to "Slay new ways." The clip has Frank picking up a medieval sword and it looks like it can be imbued with ice powers (Frank is wearing a Jack Frost costume when he uses it). Previous trailers have showcased other weapon mash-ups like candy cane crossbows and Christmas ball rocket launchers.
Frank can also mix up vehicles in the game to make for maximum zombie killing numbers. In the clip, he can be seen riding a burning lawnmower and driving a small cart with a revolving machine gun mounted on the top.
Zombie shooter fans are in for a treat this Christmas when the "slay ride" begins on Dec. 6.
