'Deadpool 2' release date and news: Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Lizzy Caplan shortlisted to play Domino?
The end credits of "Deadpool" confirmed that the sequel will feature time-travelling mutant Cable, but fans weren't expecting that the movie would also show the mutant assassin Domino. A new shortlist has been reported and six actresses are up for the role.
According to Collider, the actresses up for the role of Domino are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lizzy Caplan, Sofia Boutella, Stephanie Sigman, Sienna Miller and Sylvia Hoeks. It's said that the actresses have either auditioned or will audition for the part.
Other rumors have put Mackenzie Davis in the role, but she has since disproved them.
As for the current shortlist, Sofia Boutella has already proven herself capable of action scenes during her roles in "Kingsman: The Secret Service" and most recently, "Star Trek Beyond." Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also no stranger to comic book action movies as she has played Ramona Flowers in Edgar Wright's "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World."
Sienna Miller had played the Baroness in "G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra" and Stephanie Sigman had worked on the most recent Bond movie, "Spectre." Sylvia Hoeks stars in the action drama "Overspel." Lizzy Caplan is more famous for her role as Janis in "Mean Girls," but she has also shown her penchant for action movies in "Now You See Me 2."
It's only a matter of time before the production team eventually decides on who will make the perfect Domino.
As for the character of Domino herself, she is a partner to Cable in the comics and her real name is Neena Thurman. Her powers allow her to manipulate probability, which makes her seem like a luckiest person in the room. She is also a member of the X-Force and has had regular run-ins with Deadpool.
Domino has also clashed with the cyborg Reavers in the comics. Interestingly enough, the Reavers will be appearing in the last Wolverine movie, "Logan."
"Deadpool 2" is set to come out on Jan. 12, 2018.
