'Deadpool 2' release date, updates and news: 'Batman v Superman' composer Junkie XL leaves project
The future of the "Deadpool" sequel started to look bleak after the departure of director Tim Miller, but more bad news seems to follow as composer Junkie XL has also decided to leave the project.
Junkie XL, whose real name is Tom Holkenberg, posted about his departure on Facebook, and he wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that I have decided not to score the upcoming 'Deadpool' Movie. I love this character and creating his and the movie's original score was a monumental chapter in my life, personally and professionally.
"Since it was revealed that Deadpool's brilliant creative director Tim Miller will not be involved in the project anymore, I have undertaken some soul searching... 'Deadpool' without Tim at the helm just does not sit right with me and that is why I have decided not to be involved in the second chapter."
He also went on to say that it was hard to walk away from a project that was very unique to him, but it also did not feel right.
Tim Miller was said to have left the project due to creative differences and his desire for the movie to have bigger budget. He has since moved on and signed up to help develop the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie. He's going to be working with longtime Blur Studio collaborator Jeff Fowler, and just like Miller with "Deadpool," this movie would be Fowler's first feature directorial debut.
Junkie XL is best known for making the remix of Elvis Presley's "A Little Less Conversation," but he has also worked as a composer for movies like "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Even if he won't be working on "Deadpool 2," Junkie XL would still be a composer for comic book movies like "Justice League" and "The Dark Tower."
"Deadpool 2" hits theaters on Jan. 12, 2018.
