'Death Stranding' update news: Hideo Kojima says game development to be in full swing in 2017
Earlier this December, it was revealed that Hideo Kojima's "Death Stranding" will be powered by Guerilla Games' Decima Engine, the same engine that made "Horizon Zero Dawn" possible. With the release of the "Death Stranding" trailer at the Game Awards, fans are now excited more than ever about the game's release.
To generate more hype and anticipation for the game, game creator Hideo Kojima took to Twitter to share his vision for the game and how Guerilla Games is pushing the boundaries of game development.
As reported by Gaming Bolt, Kojima, in his Twitter post, compared the game engine development to the space race during the Cold war and how it eventually stagnated due to the higher costs, which eventually led to people giving up on the space shuttle program. Although the truth of that statement can be disputed, Kojima used the comparison to make the point that his efforts to revolutionize Guerilla Games will not only reach Mars but will also go as far as Jupiter.
However, despite the ground-breaking changes achieved by Kojima and Guerilla Games through the Decima Engine, it looks like full-scale development of the game has yet to commence. In an interview with IGN, Kojima confirmed that the development of the game shall "enter full swing" in 2017.
Even with the grand launching of the game's trailer during the Game Awards, Kojima still shared little about the possible plot and other important details of the game. However, as reported by Red Bull, Kojima recently mentioned that: "Death Stranding is fully playable in single player, but also a unique co-op experience, where I want to tie people together with the equivalent of ropes. Also, the story is all about connections, that are called 'strands' in psychology."
"Death Stranding" is set for a PS4 exclusive release sometime in late-2017 or in 2018.
