'Death Stranding' release date, latest news: Hideo Kojima talks about upcoming game
The unveiling of "Death Stranding" at E3 2016 is considered to be one of the greatest highlights of the event. Since then, the gaming community has been eager to hear about any new details about Hideo Kojima's mystery video game project.
Although information about "Death Stranding" has been very scarce in the months that passed by since its reveal at E3 2016, Kojima has recently shed some more light on the development of his upcoming video game during his appearance at the recent RTX Sydney 2017 event.
As reported by GameRant, he has confirmed that the highly-anticipated game title has a set release date. In addition to setting the release date of his video game in stone, he confirmed that "Death Stranding" will be an open-world game. However, the video game will not be VR-capable.
"At this time, Death Stranding is not a VR game," Kojima said.
On the present state of the game, Gamespot reported that Kojima's team at Kojima Productions is currently working on game logic and is conducting tests on various systems on the framework. This year, the main focus of the team will be to fill out the game world, building up on the game's foundation.
Kojima was also asked if "Death Stranding" will have a version for the PlayStation 5 once it is released in the future. However, he responded that a version of the game won't be arriving on the rumored game console, stressing that "Death Stranding" will be a PlayStation 4 game.
Based on Kojima's statement, "Death Stranding" is still in the early days of development. Hence, fans should not hold their breath as they wait for Kojima to announce the game's official release date anytime soon. For now, fans can satiate their excitement with a previously-released gameplay trailer featuring Guillermo del Toro and Mads Mikkelsen.
"Death Stranding" still has no announced release date, and it is currently in development for the PlayStation 4. There are rumors that the game may be launched sometime in 2018.
