The third movie from the computer-animated comedy franchise "Despicable Me" is slated to premiere this year, and one of its surprises is that Gru, voiced by Steve Carell, has an identical twin brother.

Directed by Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda, and Eric Guillon, "Despicable Me 3" is set to debut in June this year, following Gru on another adventure as he fulfills his duties with the Anti-Villain League.

Alongside him is none other than Gru's wife, Lucy, voiced by Kristen Wiig, the agent who brought Gru to be part of the Anti-Villain League back in "Despicable Me 2."

Based on the official trailer of "Despicable Me 3," Gru and Lucy — "Grucy" — will be going after a new yet notorious villain known as Balthazar Bratt.

The villain, voiced by "Southpark" cast member Trey Parker, appears to be someone blasted straight from the 80s as he wears a purple suit with shoulder pads and uses bubble gum and an electric guitar as his weapons of attack.

Balthazar Bratt used to be a child star back in the 80s, but ever since he hit puberty, the plug was pulled on his show and everyone forgot about him. His goal is to take over the world so that no one can ever make fun of him anymore.

Meanwhile, Cinema Blend reports that at the 2016 CinemaCon held in Las Vegas, Illumination Entertainment executive Chris Meledandri announced that Gru has a long-lost twin brother named Dru.

Still voiced by Carell, Dru is Gru's identical twin. The difference between the two is their sense of style and that Gru is bald while Dru has a head full of blond hair. The appearance of Dru is said to cause sibling rivalry with Gru, but how he will be found has not yet been revealed.

"Despicable Me 3" is scheduled to premiere on June 30, 2017.
