'Destiny' latest news: Update 2.5.0.2 to arrive in mid-February
Game developer Bungie has recently announced that the next update for the video game "Destiny" is on track for its scheduled release next month.
In a blog post in their official website, Bungie revealed that the next patch, called Destiny HotFix 2.5.0.2, will feature an update to the video game's sandbox, specifically addressing issues complained about by fans.
The update is expected to arrive sometime in mid-February. The company is unable to provide an exact date of release at the moment because, as explained in the blog post, launching an update requires a lot of steps from development to certification. Hence, should any issue arise along the way, the update's release could be delayed further.
However, according to Game Rant, based on Bungie's track history in launching update, fans can most likely expect the arrival of HotFix 2.5.0.2 update on a Tuesday in mid-February.
Although update 2.5.0.2 does not have patch notes yet, senior designer Josh Hamrick shared some of the goals Bungie has in mind for the update.
"Sandbox and Crucible designers have been investigating and updating the competitive ecosystem, and I am proud to say that we are getting very close," he said in the blog post. "Through experimentation and near daily battles to the (digital) death, we have begun to home in on a set of changes that we believe freshens things up," he added.
A total of five goals were listed for the HotFix 2.5.0.2 update. First is to promote alternatives and counters to shotguns. Second is to align potency of Primary weapons with surgical changes. The next objective is to file down a couple of issues from each class. Another goal is to fix some issues with a sample platter of Exotics. Lastly, the update is meant to support adjustments to Special Ammunition.
Although the list provided in the blog post does not have detailed information about the content of the upcoming update of "Destiny," Hamrick did tease that a live stream demonstrating the update may be arranged by Bungie in the near future.
"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is now available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
