The sad fate of "Devil's Third Online" has finally come when Nintendo announced that it is stopping the support of the game. However, the game might still be played via a free-to-play version for the PC platform.

The support for "Devil's Third Online" was discontinued on Dec. 28, which means its servers are now down. Players will no longer be able to play the online game as Nintendo observed that there is no substantial number of players who patronize the game.

Its Wii U version has not gathered enough players as well, ever since it became available in 2015. The few number of players for the platform was also caused by the number of Wii U users who are reportedly not enough to gather a huge number of online fans. However, the game's multiplayer mode was the only one that got shut down, leaving the single-player version to still be available.

Wii U players who are playing "Devil's Third Online" are certainly familiar with the issues regarding the title. It could be remembered that the game was criticized for having a bizarre, mature content, which was not in line with Nintendo's wholesome core values. As a result, the game was not fairly accepted and was reportedly ignored by many Wii U owners.

Despite this, the game still has players for its PC version and so free-to-play modes are rumored to be coming soon, according to Attack of the Fan Boy. The free play's date has yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the game is still available on shelves with a low price of $29.99 from the $59.99 original price. This promotion sparks hope that the title will at least be successful for PC, following the disappointing sales of the Wii U version.

"Devil's Third" is set to be released in Japan this year, but there is no news about when it will be launched internationally.
