'Dishonored 2' news and updates: Devs promise patch in the coming days for PC issues reported

Bethesda, "Dishonored 2" publisher, promises to address PC bugs and issues with a soon-to-be-released patch. | Bethesda/Steam

The game's publisher, Bethesda, announced on the same day of "Dishonored 2's" official release that they will soon make an update available for the game. The announcement came after a lot of PC gamers have reported that they encountered game bugs preventing the game to run smoothly.

As of writing, the much-awaited game sequel has received a "Mixed" overall rating after gathering just 56 percent positive responses out of the 3,400 plus reviews on Steam.

The game's publisher, Bethesda, was quick to respond and address PC gamers' concerns. In a statement posted on the same day of the game's release, Bethesda said, "We have been monitoring the PC forums and social channels and while we're excited to hear that many of you are enjoying the game, we are disheartened that some of you are experiencing PC performance issues on some systems."

Bethesda continued that gamers should expect the patch and its release notes "in the coming days."

The only detail given about the upcoming patch was: "We are preparing a patch intended to provide improvements to allow for more consistent framerates on affected systems and provide an update to the mouse code for smoother input."

In the meantime, while the patch is in the pipeline, Bethesda advised PC gamers to follow their initial recommendations to get the game's best possible performance. Some of their recommendations include avoiding the Alt-Tab shortcut command. Bethesda advised, "Relaunch the game if you see performance dropping after using Alt-tab."

Another advice was to avoid running background applications while playing the game as well as lowering the screen resolution to 1,440p for a smoother run in case of performance issues on rigs that have higher-end graphic cards such as Nvidia GTX 1070 or 1080.

"Dishonored 2" is a stealth action-adventure game sequel following the story of the supernatural assassin and main protagonist Corvo Attano. The game sequel lets players choose another playable character — Corvo's daughter, Emily Kaldwin.
