'Double Dragon 4' release date, latest news: New 'Double Dragon' game now available
"Double Dragon 4" is now available for the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
It can be recalled that Arc System Works grabbed the rights to the "Double Dragon" franchise back in 2015. For the latest installment of the "Double Dragon" game franchise, they have tapped key team members involved in the 1987 arcade version in creating "Double Dragon 4." These include original planner Yoshihisa Kishimoto, designer Koji Ogata, and composer Kazunaka Yamane.
As reported by Gaming Target, the storyline of "Double Dragon 4" picks up after the elimination of the Black Warriors in "Double Dragon II." The game features all-new action, and it also brings out nostalgia with its original "old-school" graphics. New enemy characters are included in the latest "Double Dragon" game, such as ninjas, karate masters, and even sumo wrestlers.
"Double Dragon 4" also contains new features never before seen in any other "Double Dragon" game. Not only is there a one-on-one versus mode, a survival-style Tower mode has also been introduced. In this survival-style mode, players get to see how long they can last as they climb floor after floor, battling evil sprites.
Although the western release of the game is unaffected, Arc System Works has announced a delay in the launch of the Japanese edition of the PS4 version of "Double Dragon 4." As reported by Gematsu, the planned launch of the PS4 version in Japan has been delayed to an unconfirmed release date due to "unforeseen circumstances."
Nevertheless, the Steam version of the game still launched as planned in Japan on Jan. 31.
As the game is designed to look like an old game, it is not surprising that "Double Dragon 4" is priced like an old game. The latest "Double Dragon" game from Arc System Works is now available on the PS4 and Steam for only $6.99.
An English trailer was also recently released to promote the video game, which can be viewed here.
