'Dragon Ball Super' anime series latest news, update: 'Universal Survival' arc set to begin in episode 77
Anime series "Dragon Ball Super" is about to enter a brand-new phase with its upcoming story arc, "Universal Survival."
As reported by Comicbook, Japanese magazine Animedia has revealed minor details about the upcoming 77th episode of "Dragon Ball Super," in which the new "Universal Survival" arc will allegedly kick off.
A portion of the article, as translated into English by Todd Blankenship, reads: "Do you remember? During the 'God of Destruction Champa Arc', the Omni-King, ruler of all the universes, suggested a tournament in which the strongest warriors from throughout the 12 universes would assemble. But afterward there was the battle against Universe 10's Zamasu, so everyone forgot about this. Everyone that is except Goku, who likes fighting even more than food, and asks Omni-King again about holding the tournament. And so, with episode 77 the series finally enters the "Universe Survival Arc."
Based on Animedia's published article, the Omni Kings' martial arts tournament between universes, called "Tournament of Power," is organized at Goku's request. For this competition, 10 formidable warriors are selected from each universe. Earth will be represented by 10 warriors, and aside from Goku, the roster includes Gohan, Kuririn, the Turtle Hermit, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Vegeta, Majin Boo, and Androids 17 and 18.
As reported by Hall of Fame Magazine, three more episodes are scheduled to air before "Dragon Ball Super" episode 77 is released. Episode 74 is scheduled for airing this Sunday, Jan. 5. After that, two more filler episodes, episodes 75 and 76, will have to be released before the highly-anticipated "Universal Survival" arc begins.
