'Dragon Ball Super' episode 77 spoilers: Z-Fighters to join upcoming Universal Survival Tournament

In a few days, Toei Animation will be opening a new story arc in the popular anime series "Dragon Ball Super" with the introduction of the "Universal Survival" saga in the show's 77th episode.

With the closure of the "Future Trunks" arc, the show has recently been airing filler episodes. The recent filler episodes concluded when "Dragon Ball Super" episode 76 was released, which wrapped up some of the characters' preparations for the upcoming grand multiverse tournament.

"Dragon Ball Super" episode 76 continued with Krillin's redemption arc, during which, the short, stocky fighter was faced with his biggest fears and insecurities as he tried to regain the fighting spirit he once had in his younger years. By the end of the episode, Krillin successfully transformed back into the formidable fighter he once was.

As for the upcoming 77th episode of "Dragon Ball Super," Weekly Shonen Jump has recently shared the episode's synopsis so that fans could get a glimpse of how the "Universal Survival" arc will begin.

As translated by Todd Blankenship (via Twitter), Goku trains with Whis to get back into shape. He then remembers the Omni-King's promise to hold a martial arts tournament open for every universe. Goku immediately uses the button given by the Omni-King to talk with him about the competition.

When the multiverse martial arts tournament is about to begin, Goku is unfazed by the Omni-King. However, Beerus and Whis are not so optimistic with the whole ordeal.

Meanwhile, Goku invites Vegeta to come along in his training with Whis. However, Vegeta refuses the invitation because Bulma is about to give birth. Considering the rarity of Vegeta's expression of affection, fans may be excited to see how much concern Vegeta shows for his wife in the coming episode.

A new trailer for the "Dragon Ball Super" episode 77 has also been released. It showed some of the Z-fighters who will be competing in the inter-universal tournament, which include Krillin, Android 18, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and even Buu.

"Dragon Ball Super" airs on Crunchyroll every Saturday at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami will also begin airing the English dub of the anime series on Adult Swim every Saturday at 11:30 p.m.
