The upcoming sequel to last year's "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" will have more online features and could be connected to the popular Japanese anime "Dragon Ball Super."

Unlike its predecessor, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," the next installment in the fighting role-playing video game series from Bandai Namco, will play up the online aspects of the game, allowing players to interact with each other more.

In an interview with Gamereactor, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" producer Masayuki Hirano said: "This time we're really focusing on online features. And we are putting together a lot of features related to online so that players can interact and play with other players online, battle, do some quests, and feel the new online experience."

Hirano also spoke about the hubworld for the new game, revealing that it will be bigger than the one in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse."

"We were simply happy that there was a lot of positive feedback from fans, so we're really trying to include a lot of new things that you can do in this hub," he added. "We're going to have some more events, we're going to have some more quests."

Meanwhile, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" could tie in to the "Dragon Ball Super" story, according to Game Rant.

The outlet notes that based on the theory, the events in "Dragon Ball Super" will eventually lead into those in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2." This will reportedly be made possible by time travel, which is an integral element of the upcoming game. Incidentally, time travel is also central to the current arc in "Dragon Ball Super."

The theory was recently fueled by what may or may not be a "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" Easter egg in an episode of "Dragon Ball Super." According to eagle-eyed fans, an insignia on Goku Black's time ring is remarkably similar to the symbols on Broly and Janemba's heads in the new "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" trailer.

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" drops Oct. 25 for Xbox One and PS4. The PC version will be made available on Oct. 28.
