'Dying Light' PC Developer Tools Release Date News: Features Allow Players to Create Own Game

Players of "Dying Light" can now create new content for the game on PC with the recent release of the game's official Developer Tools, developer Techland has announced.

"All PC players can now take on the role of game designers and build their own quarantine zones," Techland said. "The Dying Light Developer Tools allow for the creation of brand-new maps, custom stories, and insane scenarios limited only by the imagination of the author."

All content created by users with the help of the Developer Tools can be shared easily and downloaded with the Steam Workshop integration.

Techland recently announced a competition for creating openly available maps using the game's Developer Tools. This has resulted in skilled gamers creating a number of mods for the game.

So far, one mod called "I Am Legion" has been garnering attention as it makes the daytime action in the game much more dangerous.

This mod does more than just stack explosive barrels or jettison zombies over cliffs. Instead it focuses on giving players a harrowing time in the daytime period in the game, which is generally considered to be tame compared to the action in the night when zombies become more ferocious.

Describing the "I Am Legion" mod, PC Gamer states that when it is in action, players have to adopt the same tactics they do at night and either run or hide to escape the zombie hordes. The mod activates even zombies that normally just amble about during the daytime and coordinates their attacks so that players are left dealing with a horde within a few minutes.

Also the mod has increased the number of points where zombies can "spawn." These are extremely active zombies compared to the normal daytime zombies as they are always on the look for fresh meat. Once spotted by these hyper zombies, players are surrounded on all sides and have to fend off a coordinated attack. To escape, the player has the option to run in a safe zone.

The mod ensures that the zombies do not forget about the players and they stick around waiting for him to emerge.

Among the other tricks that the mod brings to the game is filing cleared areas with zombies faster and even reducing the amount of arms and ammunition that can be gathered from other characters. As for weapons available for purchase, the mod increases their prices, thus providing more problems to players.
