'Fallout 4' PS4 mods release date news 2016: Bethesda finding ways to still launch feature?
The mods for the PlayStation 4 version of "Fallout 4" were not approved by Sony, but it appears that developer Bethesda Softworks is still looking for ways to make it available.
Bethesda vice president of marketing and public relations Pete Hines suggested in his latest Twitter exchange with inquiring fans that they are still working on somehow bringing the feature in some form.
"We can't get into specifics. We still want to get mod support of some kind out on ps4," Hines tweeted to a fan. This is the same disposition Bethesda promised when the announced the cancellation of the release as they expressed dismay following Sony's decision.
"After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition," the company said in their official statement.
"Like you, we are disappointed by Sony's decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive," they continued.
Hines has said before that the "Fallout 4" PS4 mods were under evaluation and that they themselves were waiting for word from the higher-ups.
Fans have been waiting for the feature since June, the initial release schedule of the mod support while Xbox One players have gotten a load of it for a while now.
The launch was marred with issues that ranged from the sound support, the upload limit (it is only 900 MB instead of 2 GB like on the Xbox One) and overall performance issues.
At the moment, the "Fallout 4" PS4 mods are officially canceled. It is unclear if Bethesda will end up releasing them in some way Sony will agree so fans will simply have to be a bit more patient.
