'Fallout VR' release date update: Bethesda looking to put entire 'Fallout 4' game in virtual reality
The plan of Bethesda Game Studios to release "Fallout VR" still has not changed. In fact, the studio is looking to give the whole of "Fallout 4" the virtual reality treatment.
During the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, only a segment of "Fallout 4" was playable in VR, but Bethesda director and executive producer Todd Howard said that they are "definitely" working to put the entire game in VR.
"That's the promise of VR, being in a big virtual world. The core experience, meaning you put on the headset and you're standing in the world of Fallout and can go where you want, just that little bit is every bit as cool as you hope it would be," he explained in an interview with Glixel adding that it was more of the urge and excitement to see this concept evolve.
With regards to how "Fallout VR" will fare in the sales charts, Howard said that they are "not so worried about how many we're going to sell or what the market is."
He believes that it will "sort itself out." The idea is to take and make the most of the "opportunity to make something really unique" in "Fallout VR."
"We'd rather do that than make some other tiny experience. I don't think that's what people want from us," the Bethesda executive added.
With regards to a release date for "Fallout VR," Howard did not get into that during the interview although he did say in the past that they are looking to release it by end of June next year.
However, the fact that Bethesda is still "trying the VR thing now" and discovering to see where that leads them, a concrete release date is far from being finalized.
"Fallout VR" is slated for only the HTC Vive at the moment. More details about it should be released next year.
