More new cast members have joined "Fargo" for its much-anticipated third season that is all set to air next year.

According to reports, the latest cast additions to the series are Shea Whigham, Karan Soni, Fred Melamed, and Thomas Mann. Earlier this week, more actors have joined the Noah Hawley anthology drama, including Michael Stuhlbarg, Scoot McNairy, and David Thewlis.

Soni ("Deadpool," "Blunt Talk") has been tapped to portray a scientist who is known as Dr. Homer Gilruth. On the other hand, Mann ("Me, Earl and the Dying Girl") joins the cast as an award-winning science fiction novelist named Thaddeus Mobley. Melamed ("Lady Dynamite," "Casual") is set to play the role of Howard Zimmerman, a character who is described as a mover and shaker who likes to earn a profit.

Stuhlbarg ("Boardwalk Empire") will portray the character of Sy Feltz, who serves as Emmit's right-hand man/consigliere. Whigham, who is reunited with his former co-star Stuhlbarg for the series, is all set to portray Meeker County chief of police Moe Dammick. Thewlis has been cast as a mysterious loner V.M. Vargas, while McNairy ("Halt & Catch Fire," "12 Years a Slave") rounds out the cast as a stoner named Maurice LeFay.

Rumored to take place in 2010, the third installment of FX's "Fargo" follows the events of the breakout series' freshman run. Although it's unclear how or whether it will be connected to the events of the first season, none of the former stars will return. Production on the show's season 3 is scheduled to kick off in January for a launch set in 2017. It was announced earlier this year that Ewan McGregor will be the lead actor and that he will play the dual roles of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy.

The third season of "Fargo" is expected to premiere next year on FX.
