Universal Pictures recently released a teaser video about the "Fast and Furious" franchise featuring a first look at a few behind-the-scenes footage in the production of the upcoming "Fast and Furious 8."

The two and a half minute preview debuted on the franchise's official Twitter account on Dec. 5. The teaser features several stars from the "Fast and Furious 8" movie stating why the action film franchise is so special. Stars Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto), Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Toretto), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), and Ludacris (Tej Parker) appeared in the teaser.

It also showed a glimpse of a new villain named Cipher, portrayed by award-winning actress Charlize Theron. Based on the teaser, Cipher will be pushing Diesel's character to his limits and will be showing no mercy. More than that, it also looks like the two may share a strong history together, which may complicate things for Dom and his family.

The teaser also revealed that the full trailer will be streamed live on Dec. 11 from a special event in New York City, which is also the main setting of the "Fast and Furious 8" movie. This special event will be attended by the stars of the upcoming movie.

It will be followed by a ninth film which is set for release in April 2019. The new trilogy will be concluded in the tenth film which will premiere in April 2021.

However, "Fast and Furious 8," "9," and "10" are not the only films that Universal intends to produce for the franchise. There are also reports of plans for spinoffs and prequels based on the "Fast and Furious" franchise.

The "Fast and Furious 8" film, directed by F. Gary Gray, is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
