'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 spoilers news: New characters to be introduced; Colman Domingo talks Madison–Strand relationship
The second season of "Fear the Walking Dead" will introduce a slew of new characters populating what the series' producers have called the show's "expanded" world.
In new photos from "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, three new characters smeared in what appears to be zombie blood are shown for the first time.
According to Entertainment Weekly, these new characters are Luciana, Francisco, and an unnamed scout. They will be played by season 2 newbies Danay Garcia, Alfredo Herrara, and Carlos Sequra, respectively.
Garcia is said to play a major role in season 2B as she is a tough character who takes Nick (Frank Dillane) into her community, one that is populated by people who have a different perspective of the undead.
Nick's introduction to the community sounds like a fulfillment of his mission in the midseason finale when he separated from his family and the rest of the survivors to find others who held the same view of the walkers as he did.
The back half of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 will reportedly pick up with the survivors separated into three groups. Nick is on his own and looking for fellow zombie sympathizers while Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie) have left the main group, with Travis intending on keeping his increasingly dangerous son away from the rest. Meanwhile, Madison (Kim Dickens), Strand (Colman Domingo), Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), and Ofelia (Mercedes Mason) will stumble upon a community holed up in a hotel.
At the "Fear the Walking Dead" Comic-Con panel last month, Domingo spoke about Strand's relationship with Madison, saying: "I think that we're two people who probably looked at each other in the beginning and think that they have nothing in common, but very strong ideals and personalities, and they're clashing. But they find that they need each other more."
According to Dickens, the two have formed an unlikely alliance after recognizing themselves in each other. Meanwhile, Curtis noted that Travis was able to leave with Chris because he knew that Strand would take care of Madison.
"I kind of think Madison is taking care of Strand at this point," Chris Hardwick, who hosted the panel, interjected. "The characters are very similar in that they're both survivors, they have different tool sets to do that, but they clearly both will do what needs to be done."
"Fear the Walking Dead" season 2 continues Sunday, Aug. 21, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
