'Fear the Walking Dead' season 2 spoilers: Strand to undergo resurgence;'Ofelia will reappear 'very soon'

In the latest episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2, Nick (Frank Dillane) and Luciana (Danay Garcia) became intimate, Madison (Kim Dickens) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) got rid of the zombies at the hotel, and Strand (Colman Domingo) helped Oscar (Andres Londono) come to terms with Jessica turning into a zombie.

In an emotional scene, Strand found Oscar at the hotel's honeymoon suite, where his bride Jessica had been since she turned into a walker on their wedding day. Because Oscar couldn't bring himself to kill the zombified Jessica, Strand offered to put her down and finally give Oscar some closure.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Fear the Walking Dead" showrunner Dave Erickson said that this was also Strand's way of coming to terms with his own grief over Thomas' (Dougray Scott) passing. He also said that while Strand is currently in a very fragile place, he will soon be moving on.

"I think part of what we'll see moving forward and then moving into season 3 is sort of the resurgence of Strand and he'll start to find that older version of himself," the "Fear the Walking Dead" boss said.

As for Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), who has yet to re-emerge after going missing a couple of episodes back, Erickson said, "We will reconnect with Ofelia very, very soon."

According to the showrunner, the reasons for Ofelia abandoning the group will soon be revealed. "We're starting to lay track and starting to introduce elements that will gradually steer us towards season 3, and her journey is kind of instrumental in that," he said.

When asked about what happens in the next episode, Erickson teased, "Everything is going to be beautiful. Things at the hotel are going to be great. They're going to start to farm."

In the preview for the next episode, titled "Pillar of Salt," Strand appears to have been injured, Madison lays down some rules for the community at the hotel, and La Colonia goes on lockdown after an encounter with a gang.
