'Final Fantasy XV' latest news: Upcoming update allows players to take selfies; Moogle Chocobo Festival to kick off next week
"Final Fantasy" will soon have a new update, and Square Enix recently revealed some interesting tweaks from the upcoming patch.
Earlier this week, Square Enix released an overview of the game's next update arriving on Tuesday, Jan. 24. One of the most notable features from the new patch is called "self-photographing," which basically allows players to take selfies. The outline specifies that players can only do it outside of battle, so the task of securing mid-fight photos is still done by Prompto.
According to reports, the developer didn't reveal further info about the DIY selfie function. It remains unclear whether players can snap pictures with a single button, like taking a screenshot, or if they can pose with their Chocobo and customize portraits. It's also unknown if Prompto's photography skill will be increased through taking selfies or if the patch will increase the maximum image inventory.
Aside from the photo-capturing feature, the update also includes additions for both paid and free holiday DLC packs. With the Moogle Chocobo Carnival coming up, a new photo frame and a Noctis-only costume will be made available for players. As announced back in December, the update to the Holiday Pack will include items such as the Festive Ensemble, Choco-Mog Tee as well as the "Holiday Pack + Exclusive" Photo Frames.
Square Enix dropped a new gameplay trailer for the event over the weekend, and it gives fans a glimpse of the city of Altissia. In addition, two new outfits for the event were also unveiled: the Festive Ensemble (available to Season Pass holders with the Holiday Pack and DLC) and the Choco-Mog Tee (from the free Holiday Pack DLC).
Square Enix has previously confirmed that there are extensive plans for post-launch support in terms of paid DLC and free updates. There are speculations that expansive areas that went unused in the game will be used for a future DLC.
