Despite the excitement surrounding the highly anticipated "Final Fantasy XV," there has been a lot of backlash regarding the game's choice of characters.

Those who have been following news on the new title are aware that the game will show the story of Noctis and his friends. Players will get to take part in their adventure as they head back to Insomnia. All of Noctis' friends are male characters, which resulted in some accusation of sexism.

It was reported that some fans have been commenting on the sexist nature of the upcoming game, since it does not feature any playable female characters. Instead, it has female secondary characters that aid Noctis in his journey.

However, voice actor of the series Ray Chase, who plays the role of Noctis, was quick to defend the story. He explained that the reason for the focus on male characters was that the story is about the struggles of a young man. He said that the title has no intention of being sexist, and its choice in playable characters just due to the story of the current title.

He defended, "If that's the story they're choosing with this one, then that's the story they're choosing with this one. Final Fantasy is no stranger to having playable female characters. They've always been equal opportunity from the start."

In addition, he said that the Final Fantasy games have often featured strong female characters in previous installments. It was not a stranger to having women as playable characters.

With that, he also stated that the new title features a lot of stellar female characters such as Luna and Aranea. Because of this, fans can expect a diverse dynamic throughout the game.

To further excite fans, he also teased that the next installment of the franchise could boast new female characters to the mix. He said, "You have tons of strong female archetypes throughout the series. And I think that for this one, if none of them is playable, then that's fine. We'll wait until [Final Fantasy] 16 comes out and you can get your female [main character]. We're telling a different story. This one happens to be about a young man growing up."
