Samsung first released a curved display on its Galaxy Note Edge phablet and, after it was well received, followed it up with the Galaxy S6 Edge with dual curved edges. Even though both devices have stunning curved displays, they are quite different when it comes to design and specs.

Design

The Note Edge has a curved screen on its right tip and it nearly extends all the way to its back panel. The phablet has a plastic frame and back panel which is covered in faux leather, making it easier to hold. The Note Edge also has a great advantage in the form of its S-Pen stylus which its competitor does not have. As for the Galaxy S6 Edge, it has dual curved edges that are subtle and extend over its front, along with a premium metal frame and a glass panel at its back. The curved screen on the Note Edge can be used to store apps and display notifications as it is totally independent of the main screen. In contrast, the edges on the Galaxy S6 Edge are part of the main screen and display caller images, a clock and notifications.

Display

The display on the Galaxy S6 Edge is a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch. The Note Edge has a super AMOLED screen measuring 5.6 inches with a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and a density of 524 pixels per inch.

The Galaxy S6 Edge has the very latest specs in the form of an Exynos 7420 chipset, quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU and Mali-T760 GPU. The Note Edge, on the other hand, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420.

Memory

A major difference between the devices is that the Note Edge has a memory slot which can be used to add up to 128 GB of external storage while the Galaxy S6 Edge does not have one. As for RAM, both devices have 3GB versions.

Price

The Note Edge costs $399 with a two-year contract and its full retail price is $945. The Galaxy S6 Edge's full retail price could be between $800 to $850.
