'Game of Thrones' season 7 release date, plot rumors, latest news: Sophie Turner talks about 'Dark Sansa' for upcoming season
Filming for "Game of Thrones" season 7 has wrapped up in Spain and is about to be finished in Northern Island. The upcoming season has been shortened, and it is expected that not everyone will be making it back for season 8. However, among those who are expected to survive until the final season is Sansa Stark, portrayed by young actress Sophie Turner.
With her transformation from a naïve and spoiled noble lady to a hardened and powerful Lady of the North, many are looking forward to seeing what's in store for the eldest daughter of the Stark family. In an interview with Vulture, Turner somewhat sheds some light on this when she dropped some hints about what to expect from her character in "Game of Thrones" season 7.
"Oh, yeah. This is so much more Dark Sansa. When she changed her outfit, that was just the first hint that she was ready to start playing the game. That was a mild version of Dark Sansa, and now it's really starting to feel like there is a dark side to her. She's playing the game now, and very ruthlessly. When she wants something, she's going to go out and get it," Turner said.
Turner also discussed the growing power struggle between Sansa and her bastard brother, Jon. At the end of the sixth season, Sansa had her first taste of real power in saving Jon and the rest of the North from the Boltons. However, that power is quickly stripped away when Jon gets recognized as the new King of the North.
In the upcoming season, the difficulty in making a collaborative leadership work between the Stark siblings could convince Sansa to take up Littlefinger on his offer to take the throne for themselves.
"Game of Thrones" is set to return for its seventh season in mid-2017 on HBO.
