'General Hospital' spoilers, update: Could Charlotte be a Cassadine?

"General Hospital"  is fond of adding big mysteries to its storyline. That is why when the show introduced Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) to the mix, fans can't help but suspect that the kid has a larger backstory and that she more than just the alleged daughter of Nathan (Ryan Paevey) and Claudette (Bree Williamson).

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Claudette could be lying about Charlotte. She previously explained that the reason why she hid Charlotte away was because she was afraid that Valentin (James Stuart) would hurt her daughter. She claimed that she and Valentin dated but when she broke up with him, he got violent.

But Claudette could be lying and Valentin may have other reasons for going after the child. Many viewers think that Charlotte could be the missing embryo, the one that Stavros (Robert Kelker Kelly) stole from Lulu (Emme Rylan).

If this is the case, then Charlotte could be a legitimate Cassadine and Valentin will need her to claim some of the family properties and assets. But how is Claudette tied to all of this? It's theorized that Claudette could be Charlotte's surrogate mother. But after giving birth to her, she could have run away and kept the baby as her own. Now, Valentin is after her.

For now, nothing is certain but the speculations are rife that Charlotte isn't Nathan's daughter. Nonetheless, he has already met her and he is head over heels for her.

Maxie (Kirsten Storms) feels otherwise though. Spoilers reveal that Maxie will continue to insist in the coming episodes that Charlotte isn't Nathan's child even with the DNA results. Maxie previously suspected that the results were rigged.

The big mystery now is who really is Charlotte? Could she be an important key to some of the biggest questions in Port Charles and Cassadine Island? Fans will have to stay tuned to "General Hospital" every Monday to Friday on ABC.
