Players will now have a chance to sample "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands" before it arrives to major platforms next year. Ubisoft has confirmed that beta testing for the upcoming open world tactical shooter video game will be coming soon.

According to a recent post on the game's official website, beta will give players a sneak peek of what it's like to be a member of the U.S. Elite Special Operations team. In the game, players will explore the Bolivian wilderness with the goal of disrupting the Santa Blanca's drug operations and ultimately, to take down the cartel.

"Wildlands" is the 10th installment in the "Ghost Recon" franchise, but it will be the first game to feature on open-world environment. It is said to be the biggest world that Ubisoft has ever created.

While more details for beta will be released soon, players can now register for the chance to become part of beta testing here. Interested participants will need a Ubisoft account to log in and sign up for beta. For those who don't have accounts yet, one can be created by linking their PlayStation Network, Xbox Live or Facebook account. Ubisoft will inform selected participants via email so it's also important to link one's current email address.

Ubisoft has yet to announce the start date of open beta testing. However, it is expected to arrive at the start of next year. This will allow Ubisoft to make the necessary changes based on players' feedback before the launch of the game in March 2017.

During a recent earnings call (via GameSpot), Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot also hinted at the possible timeline of beta testing. Furthermore, the executive revealed that there will also be closed beta testing for "Ghost Recon: Wildlands."

"We expect in the next quarter to do some open betas and closed betas that will help a lot of players to actually know what the game is and what it can become. We are very confident it will excite gamers a lot," he said.

"Ghost Recon: Wildlands" is slated for release on March 7, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows PC.
