'Gilmore Girls' Netflix revival premiere date announced; first teaser released
Only a few more months to go and "Gilmore Girls" fans will have a taste of Netflix's revival of the series which has been dubbed "A Year in the Life." Eager followers got their first dose of the characteristic Gilmore sharp-witted repartee from the new teaser video featuring Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel), which was released this week.
The 90-second clip opens with a quick tour around Stars Hollow, touching on some familiar spots before falling on the two Gilmores conversing over coffee. Mother and daughter are taking up a light-hearted discussion on whether Amy Schumer would ever like the former. Rory responds with a quick "No," citing water sports as the reason.
With Lorelai clueless about what Rory means, the latter expounds on her answer saying that Schumer is into water sports from what she gleans every time she sees the star in magazines.
To this, Lorelai replies, "No, that would not work at all."
Everyone who knows the Gilmores understands where this comment stems from: their long-standing abhorrence for any sport.
Before the clip closes, the elder Gilmore asks, "Do you think John Oliver would find me hot?"
An unmistakable negative steals over Rory's body language, as she turns and flicks her newspaper.
It is not difficult to guess how "Gilmore Girls" series lovers reacted over the clip, when Schumer herself promptly responded on Twitter.
"I've only done 2 water sports and they took pictures of it both times. I promise I usually just lay there (sex too)," she wrote.
The short clip may evoke expectations of the much-loved conversations of the Gilmores' in the upcoming Netflix release. Yet, few know that the clip had been specifically shot for the promo and is not really a scene taken from the expected revival.
The big news is that a release date for the happily anticipated "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" was also revealed at the end of the trailer. The four-part revival will stream on Netflix on Nov. 25, midnight, Pacific Time. Each will air for 90 minutes, representing a season in a year.
In an interview with TVLine back in February, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said, "We thought... four seasons, because seasons were so big with the show ... it defined [Stars Hollow] a lot. And we thought that'd be a lovely way to catch up with all three of our Gilmore Girls over the course of a year."
