'Girl Meets World' season 4 cancellation news: Will a network pick up and continue the series?

All television shows, no matter how much they are loved or despised, come to an end sooner or later. And for the fans of and the people behind the Disney TV series "Girl Meets World," they felt that the cancellation of the teen comedy show had come too soon.

The sequel to the classic teen comedy series "Boy Meets World" ended last January with the airing of its season 3 finale episode titled "Girl Meets Goodbye." When the 20th episode of "Girl Meets World" season 3 aired, it really felt like it would be the end of the show, especially since even the original cast members of "Boy Meets World" appeared on the series finale.

Although Disney Channel has decided to axe "Girl Meets World," series creator Michael Jacobs shared a different opinion and believed that the show had died prematurely in the cable network. He also hinted that he is open to continuing the show in a different venue.

"Hopefully there's another venue out there that realizes there's an audience that loves this," Jacobs told TV Line. "There are many stories to tell. Maybe there's an incarnation where we can do this and get both the old audience and the new audience. The last thing we'd want to do is overstay our welcome, but I think we died prematurely here," he went on to say.

However, it looks like the TV show is having a difficult time in finding a network that would be willing to pick up the show and resurrect it from the dead. As reported by The Wrap, even Netflix, which is considered to be the most popular candidate to save the show, will not be picking up the sitcom for an additional season and won't be streaming new episodes of the show online.

Although it may seem to be a hopeless cause, many fans of the show have not given up on finding someone willing to give "Girl Meets World" a chance so that Riley and Maya's story gets to live on.
