After handing out a supersized triple-season renewal for "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," its first scripted series, Bravo has now confirmed that it is canceling the show after its fifth season.

"We're going to land the plane," Marti Noxon, the show's creator, told The Hollywood Reporter.

In April, Bravo gave the green light to seasons 3, 4, and 5 of the popular comedy/drama starring Lisa Edelstein and Janeane Garofalo.

"With Marti and Lisa leading our stellar writers and cast, 'GG2D' is a show that captures an important slice of the zeitgeist," Jeff Wachtel, chief content officer of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and president of Universal Cable Productions, said in a statement at the time. "And with this remarkable three-season pickup, it will be a show that audiences can discover and enjoy forever."

There will be 19 more episodes before the series ends. The show's upcoming season will consist of seven episodes, while seasons 4 and 5 will each be six episodes long. TVLine notes that the 19 episodes will be filmed in the next nine months. THR reports that Bravo's decision to air the remaining episodes as three distinct seasons with short windows between each is a strategic move that mirrors that of "Game of Thrones," "Mad Men," and "Breaking Bad."

"Doing this three-season pickup allows for Bravo to plan in the future," Wachtel told THR. "There are three separate times over the next couple of years where they'll be able to drive ratings and that branding story."

In June, it was announced that "Parks and Recreation" actress Retta was promoted to series regular for the show's remaining three seasons. In "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," Retta plays the role of Barbara, Abby's (Edelstein) co-worker at SheShe. Barbara was a recurring character in the show's season 2.

"Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" wrapped its second season in February.

The show's season 3 is expected to debut later this year on Bravo.
