Design
The Chromebook Pixel 2015 looks very much like its predecessor and comes with an aluminum body. Its display is attached to its dense keyboard with a plastic hinge. On its back is a LED strip that glows when you tap twice on it, displaying the amount of battery charge left. As for the MacBook, it is also made of aluminum and comes in three colors: gold, space grey and silver. It is designed to be very slim and light. It also features a new butterfly mechanism in its keypad which replaces the traditional scissor mechanism. The new "butterfly" mechanism evenly distributes the pressure on a single key than the traditional "scissor" mechanism, which means a more precise typing experience and less errors.
Display
On the MacBook is a 12-inch LED IPS display with a resolution of 2304 X1440 pixels and a density of 226 pixels per inch. It also features support for millions of colors. As for the Chromebook Pixel 2015, it has a display measuring 12.85-inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1700 pixels and a density of 239 pixels per inch. A major difference between the devices is that the MacBook does not have a touch screen while the Chromebook Pixel 2015 has a multi-touch display.
Specs
The Google Chromebook Pixel 2015 has two models. The lower-end version has a Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 2.2GHz while the higher-end version has an Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.4GHz. As for the MacBook, it also has two models. One has an Intel Core M processor clocked at 1.1GHz while the other has a faster processor clocked at 1.2GHz. As for RAM, both models of the MacBook come with 8 GB RAM. The Google Chromebook Pixel 2015 also has 8GB RAM in the model with the Intel Core i5 processor while the Intel Core i7 processor model comes with 16GB RAM.
Memory
The Chromebook Pixel has either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. One terabyte is provided on Google Drive for free for three years in addition to a memory slot. The MacBook has either 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.
Price
In terms of price, the Google Chromebook Pixel 2015 and the MacBook are also pretty even. The lower-end Chromebook Pixel costs $999 and its higher-end model costs $1,299. As for the MacBook, the version with 256GB storage costs $1,299 while its 512GB version costs $1,599.
