Following the announcement from Google of its new operating system, the Android Nougat, the focus has shifted to the company's new smartphone, which is said to come out in two variants called Marlin and Sailfish.

Previous reports suggested that Google has tapped HTC to help them manufacture the Google Nexus 2016. Apparently, both tech giants have decided on HTC Marlin and HTC Sailfish; however, the two companies have yet to confirm these reports. Nonetheless, fans and critics have already shared their own predictions with regard to the specs and features of the new handset.

There are speculations suggesting that the Google Nexus 2016 will run on the new Snapdragon 821 processor from Qualcomm. It is also expected to arrive with the latest Operating system from Google, which the Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Snapdragon 821 is the next generation processor from Qualcomm. It has already been introduced; however, the company has yet to provide a specific date of its availability. Nevertheless, several companies have said to have already expressed their interest in using the powerful chipset on their new models such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, ASUS ZenFone 3 and Xiaomi's Mi Note 2 Pro and Mi 5s, The Verge learned. Apparently, Google wants to make sure that their next release will possess the best hardware units in the market today.

Other features of the device include a 5.5-inch AMOLED display for the HTC Marlin, while the HTC Nougat will carry a smaller 5-inch screen with full HD display. Rumor has it that both devices will come with 4 GB of RAM to be paired with the impressive Qualcomm processor.

As of the moment, fans are advised to take all reports about the Google Nexus 2016 with a grain of salt until the company decides to make an official announcement.
