While the Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung is smaller than the Nexus 6 from Google, it is clear that the smaller Samsung device has the specs and the staying power to compete with bigger phablets in the market.

Design

The Nexus 6 and the Galaxy Note 3 are pretty much alike in terms of design and come with plastic bodies. Both devices also have metal rims around their edges which give them a premium look and feel. The Nexus 6 comes with slim bezels and a curved back, which makes it easy to hold. The Note 3 has faux leather on its back panel with a stitch running along its edge. The Note 3 has a distinct advantage over the Nexus 6 in the form of its S Pen stylus which can be used to activate shortcuts like the Pen Window and S Finder.

Display

The AMOLED display on the Nexus 6 is an eye-catching 5.96 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 493 pixels per inch. As for the Note 3 it has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 386 pixels per inch.

Specs

As the Note 3 was released almost a year earlier than the Nexus 6, it has older specs in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset, coupled with a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The Nexus 6, on the other hand, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, coupled with a Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU.

Memory

Both the Nexus 6 and the Note 3 come with 3 GB of RAM. However, a major difference between the devices is that the Nexus 6 does not have a memory slot. The Note 3 has one such slot which can be used to add external storage of up to 64 GB.

Price

Nexus 6 is priced at $249 with a two-year contract, while the Note 3 is priced at $149 with a similar contract.
