Followers of Google's next batch of devices are now looking forward to the release of the 2016 Google Nexus 7 tablet. Earlier this year, Google has already unveiled its brand new handsets, named as Pixel and Pixel XL. These smartphones are notable since they mark the time when Google dropped the Nexus label from their flagship handsets. As for the Nexus 7 tablet, there is still uncertainty if Google will also use the Pixel label for the device as well. Nevertheless, the upcoming Google tablet has a lot to offer.

One of the main attraction of the highly anticipated Nexus tablet is the hybrid Andromeda operating system (OS). To note, the Andromeda OS is the combination of Google's Chrome OS for their laptop line and the Android OS for the handset. With this, the Google Nexus 7 2016 tablet will have the look of a mini desktop PC, but still possessing the features of a Google handset, Yibada reported.

The online publication also noted that the Nexus 7 tablet may be unveiled during the last quarter of 2016, which means that Google only has a few weeks left for this year to present their latest device offering. It is still unclear if the fate of the Nexus 7 tablet will be similar to Google's supposed Nexus 2016 smartphones, which were all re-branded to Pixel.

According to GSM Arena, the Google Nexus 7 tablet will be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4 GB RAM and an extended 5,100 mAh battery capacity. Its base variant is expected to have 64 GB of internal memory capacity, while there is quite an improvement in the tablet's camera department with its 13 MP main camera.

9 to 5 Google noted that there is a real possibility that Google will keep the Nexus label for their upcoming tablet, given that the Nexus brand has always been more familiar among today's buyers. If ever Google does replace the Nexus label with Pixel for their new tablet, it is expected to become quite expensive compared to its predecessors, due to Pixel's premium branding.
