'Gotham' season 3 episodes 8, 9 spoilers: Capt. Barnes turns on Gotham; Ivy brings trouble for Selina and Bruce
"Gotham" is definitely not holding its punches especially now that the city's future commissioner is back on track. Will the events in the upcoming episodes ultimately bring him a step closer to the position of power he is best known for?
Episode 8 of FOX's pre-Batman crime series saw newly reinstated detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) deal with his first case since returning to the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD). But unlike his prior cases, this one is complicated by the last person he would've expected to go to the dark side.
The worst thing about it is that the old, level-headed and by-the-rules Capt. Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) is still in there somewhere, fighting to regain control over the devious influences of Alice Tetch's ( Naian Gonzalez Norvind) blood. Will Jim and his partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) be able to help their captain subdue his punitive rage, or will they ultimately be forced to put Capt. Barnes down?
In episode 9 titled "Mad City: The Executioner," Jim and Harvey take on the murder case that happened at Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) and Mario Falcone's (James Carpinello) engagement party and will subsequently grow more suspicious of their captain.
Meanwhile, trust will be broken elsewhere as Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) tries to figure out the mystery behind the disappearance of his newfound love, Isabella (Chelsea Spack). Even though he initially turns to his friend Mayor Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) for comfort, he could just as soon turn into an enemy once he pulls the lid off Oswald's secret feelings for him and the mayor's involvement in Isabella's accident.
Ivy Pepper (Maggie Geha) is also set to return and finally reveal her identity to her friends Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) and Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). But their reunion brings trouble at their heels as shown in the episode preview released by FOX.
Everybody's story goes awry as Jim and Barnes find themselves at the receiving end of each other's gun, Nygma is visibly filled with rage as the truth he is seeking dawns on him, and Ivy and friends find themselves ducking an arrow or two.
Everything will come to a head when "Gotham" season 3 episode 9 airs on Monday, Nov. 14, at 8 p.m. EST on FOX.
