'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 Recap, New Episode Air Date; Show To Resume On Jan. 29, 2015

Now on a Christmas hiatus, "Grey's Anatomy" ended with a cliffhanger on its last episode titled "Risk."

Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) did not succeed with his plans to get a seat at the Board at Grey Sloan Memorial. However, instead of wasting away his time thinking about the Board's unanimous decision to put Bailey (Chandra Wilson) on the seat he had been wanting to have, Alex moved on quicker than people had expected.

He turned his attention to Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) who asked him for advice on marriage issues.

Meanwhile, Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) appeared on the verge of getting a divorce. We've seen her marriage falling apart with her bisexual wife Callie (Sara Ramirez) also asking for it. While Arizona could not help herself, she might be able to help Dr. Herman (Geena Davis) as he waged a personal battle against cancer, as well as the unborn child of Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew), who had a fragile bone condition.

Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) was taking a break after a long fight with Derek (Patrick Dempsey), her brother. She would be taking a close look on Dr. Herman's case.

Scorsone, in an interview told Hollywood Reporter, "Amelia is this young whippersnapper with a very bold plan and Dr. Herman has heard it all before and doesn't suffer fools. Amelia is going to have to do some pretty delicate dancing to convince Dr. Herman that this is a good idea to try."

When "Grey's Anatomy" Season 11 returns on Jan. 29 on ABC, it will pick up on the condition of Jackson and April's child.
