'Grey's Anatomy' season 13 spoilers news: Is Meredith Grey ready for love?
Happy days may be in store for fans' best-loved doctors on "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. Speculation is rife that Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is in for some romance in this upcoming season. After all, it has been a while since she lost her husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey).
The show's executive producer, Betsy Beers, told Variety that Meredith deserved to find love again. Of course, Meredith thinks she does not need to love or be loved in return after Derek died all those years ago.
And there's the beauty of it all because it means it is something that can just happen unexpectedly, something the show's EP has a penchant for, evidently.
Beers shared, "There was something about that, that I felt so pleased and so satisfied. I feel like there's something incredibly delicious about getting to watch this, so fingers crossed this is the tip of the iceberg."
The EP also touched on the development in the relationship between Meredith and Nathan (Martin Henderson) which, according to her, had really surprised Pompeo as well as the other cast members.
She said, "That was certainly one of my favorite moments of all of the shows this year, and I can tell you that at the table read, the reaction from the actors was, 'Oh my God!' It was just one of those great moments of total surprise."
Therefore, fans can expect to see some developments in that quarter assuredly.
There are hopes for Maggie (Kelly McCreary) to find love this season around, too, but the one man she has her eye on, Nathan, might end up with her half-sister. This may cause some tension among the three.
Other characters are also said to have happier days in sight, including Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington). Jo and Alex may not have found it together in the last season, when the former, who revealed that she was in a binding but abusive relationship, refused to marry the latter. Yet, with storylines approaching positive resolutions toward the next season, hope can still be had for these two. If not together, then perhaps with new partners.
Besides them, Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) may finally have some joy along with some peace and quiet after a healthy baby was born to them in the season 12 finale.
Dr. Warren and Dr. Bailey have set differences aside when the latter forgave the former for some mistakes he made.
Also last season, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) said their "I do's" and are all set for their married life. It will not all be a bed of roses, though, as Scorsone herself anticipates a heaping of tragedy some time. Yet, the actress shared what she wanted to achieve before all that starts to take place.
"We really haven't been able to do all the kind of sweet, romantic stuff that usually is the bulk of a relationship. So I hope we get to have a little bit of a honeymoon before being struck by tragedy," the actress told TV Line.
"It would be nice to kind of get out of the muck and mire," she added.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 will return this September on ABC.
