'GTA 6' rumors: Sixth major 'GTA' installment already available in Brazil?
Fans of "Grand Theft Auto" ("GTA") were thrilled to find out that "GTA 6" already came out in Brazil. But their excitement faded as fast as it came when they found out that the highly anticipated game was released on PlayStation 2.
Talks about the release of "GTA 6" sparked after a photo found its way to Imgur and Reddit, showing the poorly edited cover of the much-awaited sequel of "GTA 5." It also found its way toward social media.
The questionable "GTA 6" cover featured actress Summer Glau, who is popularly known as Cameron in "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" series. The Roman numeral "V" for "GTA 5" was also poorly edited with the word "Six" written on top of it and adding the number "6" next to the letter.
Reddit users speculated that the fake "GTA 6" could just be another heavily modded edition of the 2004-released "GTA: San Andreas."
Rockstar Games has yet to announce the development of "GTA 6," which means any release about the rumored game does not come from the game company.
It may still take a while before Rockstar could come up with a new installment for the "GTA" franchise, since the game developer is still preparing to release "Red Dead Redemption 2" this fall. According to Tech Radar, the next open-world action-adventure game could come out in 2020.
Former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies previously told Develop Magazine that they have a lot of plans for the "GTA" franchise in the future.
"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA VI will be, but we've got some ideas. GTA Online is the focus right now," Leslies stated. "There ain't no rest between finishing V and then Online. Plus we have some other things — stuff, DLC, I don't know how to describe it exactly — that we'd like to do, and we'll pick the right ones."
Details about "GTA 6" are expected to be released in the future.
