'Half-Life 3' release date, rumors and latest news: game to arrive on Valve's China-Jubilee 20th anniversary?
"Half-Life" players have been enjoying the title for full nine years so it is but natural for them to expect a new major update or even a sequel to the game. Fans have been expressing their views on different social media websites, particularly about the possibility of "Half-Life 3."
The ninth anniversary of "Half-Life 2" was celebrated on Nov. 19 and players expect that Valve will announce a major update in line with the celebration. However, the company did not announce anything, causing the fans to be disappointed by the lack of update.
While Valve has been keeping its mouth shut over the rumor that "Half-Life 3" will soon come into existence, fans strongly believe that the game developers are getting ready for a grand announcement. Some even speculated that "Half-Life 3" is already in its final phase and will soon be announced, according to N4BB.
Considering that Valve has been rolling out updates for their other games like "DOTA 2," it is possible that "Half-Life 3" may be in the works. It may even have major improvements such as a virtual reality (VR) support, which has been rumored for a while now.
This assumption started with a leak that claims a virtual reality (VR) feature for "Half-Life 3." However, Valve Corporation representative Chet Faliszek clarified the rumor and said that the VR support is impossible since it may take a long while to develop such a feature in the game.
As for the release date, "Half-Life 3" is reportedly slated for a 2018 release date, which is 11 years after the "Half-Life 2" was released, and 20 years after the original title was launched. It is believed that Valve may announce the third installment in celebration with its China-Jubilee 20th anniversary.
However, Valve has yet to confirm the rumors and so everything has to be taken with a grain of salt.
