The highly anticipated "Half-Life 3" has been making noise all over the internet every now and then. Latest reports suggest that the upcoming third installment of the science fiction first-person shooter video game might be launched at Gamescom 2016. Apparently, a poster was spotted along the convention center where the event will take place starting Aug. 18.

However, when people looked closer at the image, it appears to be a cruel joke. According to a report by The Drum, the poster, which looked exactly like the one from "Half-Life," came from someone promoting two German websites, Spieletipps and Giga Games.

Although it was quite a disappointing turn of events for every "Half-Life" fanatic, it was still an awesome sight for players who are hoping for the third installment to come out soon. What's interesting about the poster is it looks exactly like the real thing and it is currently being placed right beside ads from legitimate games such as "Dishonored 2" and "Titanfall 2."

The two websites involved in this ploy have yet to provide comments with regard to the attention it is getting because of the poster.

Meanwhile, it has been more than 10 years since the last installment of the series was released and fans are still hoping for some concrete details that would indicate if a new game will ever come out. It has been previously reported that "Half-Life 3" could be released during the game's 20th anniversary, which will be in 2018.

According to a report by Parent Herald, a reliable source revealed that the game will come out a year earlier than expected. If rumors prove to be true, fans will finally be able to experience a new game of the popular video game franchise next year

There are also reports suggesting that "Half-Life 3" may arrive with another highly anticipated video game sequel "Left 4 Dead 3."

However, these reports have yet to be confirmed by Valve.
