'Half-Life 3' release date rumors: Valve may release VR-ready title?
Many fans are still waiting for Valve Corporation to announce the release of "Half-Life 3." Ever since the last installment of the series was released more than 10 years ago, players have been wondering if the company will ever roll out another "Half-Life" title. New speculations suggest that a third installment is still possible but the question is, when will it get launched?
Valve Corporation has been mum about the game's development, much less its release date. However, previous reports already suggested that a team from the company has already started working on the project. There are speculations saying that Valve is planning to make a big release during the franchise's 20th anniversary in 2018.
Nevertheless, these reports are merely just rumors and speculations. The company has yet to confirm them and fans are advised to take these reports with a grain of salt.
Meanwhile, according to a report by The News Independent, Alan Yates, the Hardware Engineer of Valve, recently made a subreddit post revealing the company's AR/VR development.
"I was super fortunate to start at Valve right around the time Michael Abrash had begun the AR/VR research team," Yates said. "It was a much smaller team then than it is now, it has since grown to encompass about a third of the company, but the key individuals that solved most of the really hard technological problems and facilitated this generation of consumer headsets are still here working on the next generation."
The post has also given fans hint that Valve might bring "Half-Life 3" to the VR technology.
However, Rolling Stone reported that the new "Half-Life" game may never see the light of day because of the company's lack of interest to develop it.
As of the moment, fans are still waiting for any concrete detail coming from Valve. Until then, all reports are merely just rumors and speculations.
