It has been confirmed that Disney will be producing a fourth "High School Musical" and casting has even started with rumors already dropping some names of young actors to take part in the new "High School Musical" movie.

Although a new generation of performing artists will comprise the "High School Musical" ensemble, some fans cannot help wondering whether or not there will be short appearances by some of the original cast members, particularly the lead stars from back then, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. Hudgens claims that "we are all in this together." Efron, on the other hand, seems to not want to have anything to do with the musical.

Hudgens, who has starred in all three "High School Musical" installments, has already expressed high hopes and excitement for the new Disney project. She finds it something wonderful that Disney is keeping the musical alive and is even bringing it forth to the younger generation. The singer-actress admitted that she still hums tunes from the soundtrack and that the film's music will never truly leave her.

While Hudgens has expressed all these positive sentiments toward the new "High School Musical," Efron seems to not share the same positive emotions. On a few separate occasions, Efron has disclosed how he does not appreciate being associated still with his "High School Musical" character after he has moved on from that toward being a more serious actor.

In his interview with Men's Fitness, he said that sometimes he would like to kick his young self, that kid from "High School Musical." He later on revealed that he was not a fan of his work, this time during an interview with Elle.

These were not the only instances when Efron did not talk fondly of his "High School Musical" character. It can be remembered that he also expressed similar sentiments toward the Disney phenomenon to Pop Sugar in 2009, saying: "You can't enjoy or celebrate it, it's not a real thing. The face on the lunchbox and [expletive] – you can't share that with your friends."

Hudgens and Efron are currently both busy with their individual projects.
